Habitat for Humanity of McIntosh County is a housing ministry. The Habitat for Humanity International was founded by Linda and Millard Fuller in Americus, Georgia. McIntosh Habitat for Humanity provides a "hand up", not a hand out" to help God's people in need in McIntosh County. This chapter was founded in 1999.
We build houses with families who could not otherwise afford to buy a house by conventional means. We offer our partner families an opportunity to help themselves, to own a decent, affordable home of there own, which they pay for and maintain.
Partner families invest hundreds of sweat equity hours building their homes and the homes of others. Houses are sold at no profit and with no interest charged. Mortgage payments are placed in a fund used to finance additional houses.
Volunteers provide the labor. Individual, church, and corporate sponsors provide the money and materials to build Habitat houses.
